Are Cancers Skyrocketing?🚀

So yes.. getting directly to the point .. cases of cancer are rising! Yes it's a fact!

But then there is also an upside to this bitter fact!

Those cases of cancer are getting diagnosed at an early stage than they were diagnosed previously. Now what I mean by this .. this means that previously the cancers were getting detected when they were cancers! That means if a tumor has started growing beyond its boundaries and has spread to distant organs and tissue, that is called cancer! But what if you pick the disease when it is still within its boundaries and has not started spreading yet! Wouldn't it be amazing because now you have the advanced surgeries and technology to effectively remove that tumor mass from the body and you are doing this before it even becomes a cancer.

So let me rephrase this.. cases of cancer are not rising. The pre-cancerous condition is getting detected early and with effective treatment the patient is not allowed to lose their life! Isn't it amazing!?

It is also very important to note that we are now having many non invasive or non operative therapies like targetted immunotherapy which has got amazing results since last few years and that is an emerging cancer therapeutics with high hopes in many cancer subtypes.

So I would like to get you back to the point that it is the cancer detection that is on the higher side and not only the incidence of cancer that is rising. Also it becomes more important to pick the disease at an early stage. Therapies can now target advanced cancer also but it is always good to be early. But then the question that arises here is how we can effectively pick the disease at an early stage. But before going into that detail I would share one very important point. Cancer are more frequently genetic in origin. That means a positive family history of cancer is very important predictor of occurance of the disease. Also many other factor like habit of

1 smoking,

2 tobacco chewing

3 alcohol consumption

4. Occupational exposure to inhaled chemicals

5. Occupational exposure to oncogenic liquids and chemicals

6. Frequent Exposures to insecticides and pesticides.

7. Frequent exposures to gamma and UV radiations.

So if you fall into any of these seven categories or if you have a family history for cancer. Get yourself tested at regular intervals after consulting your doctor.

And what are the general signs of cancer that should raise a concern..

1. Loss of appetite for more than 3 months

2. Involuntary weight loss for more than 3 months.

3. Change of voice

4. Non healing or spreading skin lesion for more than 1 month.

5. Blood in stool for more than 1 month.

6. Blood in cough for more than 1 month

7. Persistent Drop in hemoglobin, white cell and platelet count all together for more than 3 months.

All these are signs that needs to be evaluated at the earliest. Its not necessary that they may turn out to be cancer. It may land up into a different disease too, but it does raise a major health concern ! And such symptoms or signs of present, should not be ignored!

Tell us your thoughts on this!!
